Restorative Dentistry

Mercury-Free Fillings

To find out more about tooth-colored fillings or our cosmetic dentistry procedures, please contact our office in Las Cruces, New Mexico today.

Root Canal Therapy

Each of our teeth contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp – which provides the tooth with nutrients and nerves – that extends down to the tooth’s root. If the pulp becomes infected or injured, the tooth’s nerves die and often, without endodontic treatment, the tooth dies as well. Root canals are designed to save such damaged teeth. During the procedure (performed under anesthesia), a small opening is drilled into the tooth’s crown and pulp chamber, diseased pulp is reshaped or removed, and the tooth is permanently sealed with a gold, tooth-colored, or porcelain crown. Residents of Southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas may contact us for more information about root canals.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns completely cover and protect teeth that have had extensive damage. They restore and improve the appearance of your teeth by hiding misalignments, cracks, discoloration, or other imperfections. Porcelain crowns look completely natural and offer extra support to teeth that are weak or damaged. They can also vastly improve the overall appearance of your smile and make your teeth much more durable. To find out more about porcelain crowns, please contact our office in Las Cruces, New Mexico today.

Natural-looking Bridges

Indiscreet metal bridges – the type that reveal unsightly, black, telltale lines right at the gum line – are a thing of the past. We specialize in implants and porcelain bridges, which can fill in missing-tooth gaps with natural-looking artificial teeth, correct speaking and chewing problems, and increase strength when biting. Implants and bridges replace missing teeth in a manner that functions comfortably and looks completely natural. To find out if bridges are a good option for you, please contact us today.

Sedation Dentistry

If fear of undergoing dental work is preventing you from receiving the treatment you need, consider sedation dentistry. Sedation dentistry allows patients to receive dental work in the most comfortable, relaxing way possible - free of pain and anxiety.

How does sedation dentistry work?

Dr. Gilbert will provide you with a small pill to take one hour prior to your appointment. After taking the pill, you will come to our office, accompanied by a friend or family member. By the time you arrive, you will be very sleepy and relaxed. Our dental staff will escort you to a treatment room where we will make you comfortable and place you on a monitoring device to check your vital signs. As you relax, we will carefully complete all necessary dental work. Once we are finished, your companion will drive you home. When you regain full consciousness, you will have little to no memory of undergoing dental procedures.

Who can receive sedation dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is ideal for patients who:

  • Fear the sights, smells, and sounds of the dentist's office
  • Have very sensitive teeth or a bad gag reflex
  • Have difficulty getting numb
  • Have complex dental problems
  • Need a lot of dental work completed in a short time

What are the benefits of sedation dentistry?

Sedation Dentistry is Safe: You will not be unconscious, but will merely be in a deeply relaxed state. No intravenous tubes or needles are required.

Sedation Dentistry is Pain-Free: You will feel no pain while in the dental chair and you will have little to no memory of the experience.

Sedation Dentistry is Flexible: Depending on the treatment you require, sedation dentistry can help you remain relaxed for two to six hours.

Complex Dental Treatments can be Completed in Just One Visit: Dr. Gilbert can replace crowns or bridges, place veneers, improve the health of your gums, and whiten your teeth while you remain comfortably relaxed.
